Introduction to OrchestrateIT Data Exchange Capabilities

OrchestrateIT contains a powerful data import and export engine that can be used for manual or automated data activities.

Importing Data

There are two different methods that you can use for importing data into OrchestrateIT, depending on the license that your school owns:

OrchestrateIT Desktop Client
The OrchestrateIT Desktop Client supports manual CSV imports for ‘Users’, ‘Devices’, ‘Cases’, ‘User Fees’, ‘User Forms’ and ‘User-Device Assignments’. To access this utility, click the ‘Site’ button in the top-left corner of the screen, navigate to ‘Import Data…’ and select the type of data you would like to import. A user-friendly data import wizard will guide you through the process. This import utility requires that your CSV files exactly match the format and structure specified in the OrchestrateIT Knowledge Base.

OrchestrateIT Connect
OrchestrateIT Connect supports manual or automated CSV and Microsoft Excel file (.xls/.xlsx) imports for ‘Users’, ‘Devices’, ‘Cases’, ‘User Fees’, ‘User-Device Assignments’, ‘Returned Forms’ and User Contacts’. To configure OrchestrateIT Connect import profiles, go to ‘Site Settings’ in the OrchestrateIT Desktop Client, click on ‘OrchestrateIT Connect’ and click the pop-out icon in the status panel. Navigate to ‘Scheduled Imports’, where you can create, modify or delete profiles. An OrchestrateIT Connect import profile allows you to configure automation logic. You can also map CSV and Excel source file fields to destination fields within OrchestrateIT. This means that you don’t need to manually transform your source files every time you want to import data into OrchestrateIT, which facilitates real-time automated data integration.

Exporting Data

There are two different methods that you can use for exporting data from OrchestrateIT, depending on the license that your school owns:

OrchestrateIT Desktop Client
The OrchestrateIT Desktop Client supports manual CSV exports for ‘Users’, ‘Devices’, ‘Cases’ and ‘Audit Logs’. To access this functionality, click the ‘Site’ button in the top-left corner of the screen, navigate to ‘Export Data…’ and select the type of data you would like to export. You will be prompted to choose a location to save your exported data.

OrchestrateIT Connect
OrchestrateIT Connect supports manual or automated CSV exportsĀ for any form of data that is stored in the OrchestrateIT database. By default, export profiles are available for ‘Users’, ‘Devices’, ‘Cases’ and ‘Audit Logs’. Additional export profiles can be generated by the OrchestrateIT Development Team to meet your custom needs. To configure OrchestrateIT Connect export profiles, go to ‘Site Settings’ in the OrchestrateIT Desktop Client, click on ‘OrchestrateIT Connect’ and click the pop-out icon in the status panel. Navigate to ‘Scheduled Exports’, where you can create, modify or delete profiles. An OrchestrateIT Connect export profile allows you to configure automation logic to enable real-time automated data integration.
